Photocopying
Firstly, please consider Scanning to the 'All Users Drive' to capture your document digitally, save on print costs and not have to carry around so much paper. The main library photocopier is the fastest machine for this.
The library has the only colour photocopier in the building. To use it you will need to credit money to your account (see below for details). Once you have credit, you need to login using the touch screen panel on the desk next to the Photocopier. Your login details are the same as those you use to access the Computer Network. If you are a visitor and wish to make photocopies, please ask a member of staff who will log you in. The copier can produce black and white or colour A3 and A4 copies; double and single-sided. It can also staple several sheets together. All photocopies are made subject to copyright restrictions. We will make a copy of a student project/dissertation for you if you require it. We charge £15 for this service.

Printing
There is a black and white printer available in each of the computer rooms on the third floor (Room 3.05 and 3.11). A colour printer is available in the library (Room 3.07). Make sure that you have selected the right printer. Please pay for your printouts before you leave if you are a non-BSO visitor. See the price guide below for details. In the unlikely event that a printer runs out of paper, please ask at the issue desk and we will top it up.

Printer/Photocopy Top-Up Point
Payment for printing and photocopying is all done electronically for BSO students. Each time you print or copy the cost is debited from your personal account. To add credit to your account, please use the machine on the wall. If the top-up machine is not working, please ask staff at the issue desk. To add credit to your account:
Enter your username · Enter your password · Insert your money (50p, £1, £2 coin; £5, £10, £20 note) · Press Finish

Binding of work
A machine that binds work into a plastic folder is available at a rate of £1 per binder. To use:
 · Insert loose pages into binder of desired size and place in one of the four central slots.
· You will hear a click and a RED light will illuminate.
· Wait until the light changes to GREEN (the binder has glued the pages) and carefully place in one of the outer slots to cool.

Computing
If you are not a BSO member and would like to use a computer during your visit- for example to search the catalogue or use a word processor, please ask a member of staff to log you on to a PC.
At the BSO we recognise the importance of providing students with access to IT resources. As such, you have access to the very latest IT equipment alongside high-speed broadband internet access. Each student is also given their own Email address. You will have been given this and a user name and password to access the network when you started your course.

Computers in the library
In the library itself we have four computers. Please only use these for searching the library [Link]catalogue or doing work. The computer next to the library has a scanner attached to it (the main Ricoh Photocopy machine is faster and uses an automatic document feeder). If you are unsure how to use it please ask at the issue desk or go to the IT department offices at the far end of the 3rd floor.

Computer Rooms
There are three computer rooms on the 3rd floor of the BSO that you can use. The large computer room, Room 3.05 (forward and on your left when you enter the 3rd floor) and the small computer rooms, Room 3.11 & 3.08 (through the double doors outside the library, then half way down the corridor on your right). Room 3.11 has recently been equipped with very comfy Mastermind-style chairs.

Software
Software available to all students: The computers in the library have Primal Pictures, an anatomy program, installed on them.

Computing help
If you have any problems when using a computer, please ask library staff first as we might be able to help you. If we can’t help, ask a member of IT staff to help you. Their office is at the far end of the corridor.

Information Leaflets
A range of leaflets explaining how to use the Computer Network, First Class and various software programs are available in each of the computer rooms. They are in holders up on the wall by the door.

Clear view Monitor
We recently had a ClearView monitor installed in the library for students who have difficulty with their eyesight. The monitor magnifies anything that is placed under its lens.
